Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles series

I just finished the second season of Interview with the Vampire series on AMC and finally digging into Mayfair Witches. I was a huge fan of the firstbfew books in this series, my last being Armand, number 6. About to dig back in, I thought it would be fun to present this list.

  • Interview with the Vampire (1976)This is the novel that started it all. Louis, a vampire, tells his life story to a young reporter. We learn about his transformation, his relationship with the vampire Lestat, and his struggles with his immortal existence.
  • The Vampire Lestat (1985)This novel shifts the focus to Lestat, the vampire who made Louis. We see the world through his eyes, from his early years as a human in 18th-century France to his rise as a powerful and flamboyant vampire.
  • The Queen of the Damned (1988)This novel expands the world of the vampires, introducing Akasha, the first vampire, who awakens from a long sleep with a plan to remake the world.
  • The Tale of the Body Thief (1992)Lestat, weary of his immortal life, makes a deal with a mysterious man to exchange bodies. But the experience proves to be more than he bargained for.
  • Memnoch the Devil (1995)Lestat encounters Memnoch, the Devil himself, who takes him on a journey through Heaven and Hell.
  • The Vampire Armand (1998)This novel delves into the past of Armand, a vampire who has lived for centuries. We learn about his early life in Renaissance Italy and his long and complex relationship with Marius, another ancient vampire.
  • Merrick (2000)This novel brings together characters from Rice’s Vampire Chronicles and her Mayfair Witches series. Merrick, a powerful witch, is called upon to help Louis contact the spirit of his deceased daughter, Claudia.
  • Blood and Gold (2001)This novel tells the story of Marius, an ancient vampire who has played a crucial role in the lives of many other characters in the series.
  • Blackwood Farm (2002)This novel introduces Tarquin Blackwood, a young man who is haunted by a mysterious entity. He seeks the help of Lestat, who becomes entangled in Tarquin’s dark family secrets.
  • Blood Canticle (2003)This novel brings together characters from the Vampire Chronicles and the Mayfair Witches series. Lestat becomes involved with Mona Mayfair, a powerful witch who is dying.
  • Prince Lestat (2014)Lestat returns in this novel, which finds the vampire world in turmoil. A mysterious voice is urging vampires to kill their own kind, and Lestat must find a way to unite them before it’s too late.
  • Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis (2016)Lestat and his companions embark on a quest to uncover the secrets of Atlantis, a lost civilization that may hold the key to the origins of the vampires.
